I am Lisa, owner and founder of KK’s Paws for Wellness, LLC and a foundation for life for your pets. Ever since I was a little girl, I was a lover of all animals. My grandfather and my dad were also lovers of all animals, and this is where my foundation was laid. Here I am 53 years later, entering the professional side of holistic coaching for animals.

When I was a little girl, I remember my grandparents having horses that had some disability, always finding and rehabbing stray dogs and cats, and even had a homing pigeon named Rugu. It was a magical place to grow up watching how my grandfather cared for the animals. But honestly, I never gave it much thought, I just knew he did and the animals were better for it. Fast forward to my father, who in my adult life, I watched him never turn down an animal that he found and always “loved on them”, as if they had been his all of their lives.

I have been able to enjoy many dogs as well in my adult life. In 2014, we had a dog named Misty. I remember she had horrible allergies and could never find any relief. I don’t remember how I heard about it, but we started her on a raw diet because I was told that it “would fix” all of her allergies. We tried different approaches for almost a year. I don’t recall back then hearing of many holistic approaches nor even the options of Apoquel or Cytopoint shots from the Veterinarians. Feeling hopeless, we ended up needing to put Misty to sleep.

We also had Cooper and Karlee at the time as well. All were transitioned to a raw diet at that time and received no more kibble. In 2016, we were notified that Karlee started having focal seizures at the veterinary office. Thinking nothing of it, we continued her care with Allopathic medicine. In 2017, Karlee had multiple vet visits, and each time, her seizures continued to worsen with each and every visit. The last visit she had a grand mal seizure and the vet suggested that she be put on anti-seizure medication. My argument at that time was that the vets office was the only time that she would have them. She was perfectly fine at home and never had one there. That was the day that I never looked back at Allopathic/western medicine.

At that moment, I was introduced to an amazing holistic mobile vet that would come to our home each month.  I learned so much in the world of holistic medicine and it fascinated me. I listen to many podcasts, read books, involved in groups on Facebook, all around natural healing. I would just read and read, and then read some more. During this time, it was learned that Karlee was vaccine damaged from multiple rabies vaccinations. I then learned all about the detox process and we did that process for her. Karlee and Cooper would then be treated by him until Cooper passed in 2020 and until we left California with Karlee to head to Tennessee in February 2021. From a girl that was too scared to get into a car, she sure made a 36 hour trip across the country with no issues. We couldn’t have ever imagined that.

In 2021, we got Kingston. A goofy long-legged boxer. With Kingston and Karlee I completely immersed myself in holistic medicine and dabbled in some homeopathy. We found not one, but two amazing holistic vets here in the Chattanooga area. One that would come to our home to do acupuncture and one we would need to drive to. Kingston loves what we call “his girls”. For several years we fed a dehydrated raw, and I just thought to myself, there are too many  ingredients and I want to do simple. So we reached out to an amazing Certified Clinical Pet Nutritionist that has taken me to the next level. Not only is she a nutritionist, she is also an amazing mentor and an amazing friend. Sadly, we lost Karlee to Osteosarcoma and Hemangiosarcoma in February 2023. We did everything we could holistically for her, but the foundation was just not strong enough from years of immune damage. I wish I knew years ago what I know now.  In April of 2023, we got Kaila who is now a spunky 11 month old American Bully who came with her own sets of issues being the runt of the litter and given antibiotics on day one of life. If you haven’t noticed already, they are the meaning behind the “KK”.

This is the beginning of the next chapter in my journey.
